This book is an excellent source for those who want to know much of the details about a Ketogenic diet for cancer but who need it succinctly. Miriam Kalamian's book has more detail, but I have had friends tell me it was more than they wanted to know. For those people Ellen Davis's book would be best. There were some things I learned from Davis that I did not learn from Kalamian. The only problem with Davis is that there is NO INDEX. That means if you want to go back to something you remember, you have no quick and easy way to find it. Because of that I wound up reading it 3 times, each of which had value. However, I would have appreciated an index. But the book has so much that I did not want to take away a star. When I find something of value in a book, I mark it up. My copy has marks all over.

Finally a publication that explains how to fight cancer with a Ketogenic Diet. Easy to understand and follow. Great for helping those trying to follow this diet for someone who is battling, in our case Brain cancer. Thank you Ellen for all your hard work and dedication to keep this updated in a hope that we, as the readers and caretakers, can extend an awesome quality of life for those battling Glioblastoma Multiforme grade 4.

I enjoyed reading this book. The book takes you from the fact that cancer cells addict glucose to why and how ketogenic diet (low carbohydrate high fat diet) can help to fight and cure cancer. It also helps patients to customize their diet and provides cooking techniques. As I lost my uncle due to cancer, I felt Ellen Davis words "I wish with all my heart that I had known then what I know now"

Very clear guidelines for getting deep into ketosis and information on the limits of using it as an adjuvant cancer therapy. My tumors are shrinking (I'm also on a targeted therapy) and I am deeply grateful.

This might be a good beginning book for someone and I am glad it has been so helpful to so many. I had heard Ellen Davis in an interview and I was expecting more in-depth information. I had already read Nasha WInters and Miriam Kalamian whose books had more and better information, and indexes with which to find it.Her use of exchanges to measure food does not make sense when the keto recipe books, the scales, the trackers all use ounces and grams.For someone who has cancer and a big battle ahead, I would recommend Miriam Kalamian's book for getting started, and cronometer.com for tracking what you eat. Then, The Metabolic Approach to Cancer by Nasha WInters, doctor of Naturopathy, is really good - 350 pages from her experience coaching cancer patients. These two women come from a place of their own life-and-death struggles with Keto diet and cancer and it shows in the intensity of their studies. I go back to these two books again and again. They are fine works and for them, I'd pay double what I did if I had to.

Fight Cancer with a Ketogenic Diet is a fascinating look at cancer as a metabolic disease and as an attempt to combat it with diet. Davis takes the position that a ketogenic diet can help fight cancer because it eliminates or drastically resists insulin-activating carbohydrates and sugars, allowing the cells to burn fats for energy rather than sugars. It ties in with other research I have done in the importance of eradicating sugar and slowing the metabolism. Unfortunately this won't work for me because of my gall bladder problems. However, for those without gall bladder problems, the ketogenic diet might be of great assistance in battling cancer. It is straightforward and helpful and includes recommended resources.

Bought this book for my father who had surgery to remove colon cancer. Very glad to have him on a better diet today to not feed cancer cells, just in case it decides to come back in the future.

We love the bright colors and lift-the-flaps on Karen Katz books! My 20 month old daughter really loves it and I think she's probably at the perfect age to enjoy it. Just a heads up: A friend handed us down an older copy of one of Karen Katz's other books in this series and that version has sparkly foil designs on every page. I assumed they were all like that. I was a little disappointed to see that this book only has the sparkly images on the cover and the last page. How much more beautiful and unique it could be with the sparkly images on every page! If that was taken away, I wish they'd bring it back. Regardless, my daughter still loves this book and we would definitely recommend it.

I gave this book to my 15 month old grandson for Valentines Day. While it has lift the flaps and I think it's cute...it's not his favorite. He seems to be an extreme action sort of kid...so if the book doesn't make lots of noise, growel, roar or is scarey, he's really not interested

From the time I gave this book to my grandson, he has been dragging it along with him everywhere! He'll push it to adults to read to him as long as he is the one turning the pages and lifting the flaps.We've taught him the concepts of "open" and "close" using this book to the point that when it's time to open one of the flaps, he waits for us to say it and then he proudly complies!When he didn't know I was watching, he went through the pages and flaps while sitting in his playpen and pretended to read with is made-up dialect...so adorable!!This book is sturdy, pretty, and stimulates young children to be active participants in learning how to read. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to instill a love of reading and learning in their little one at a young age.

I purchased 3 of these for my 3 youngest grandchildren(12month, 10month, 9month!!) for Valentine's Day. I made a small bag for each child and this was one of the items I put in it!! Everyone loves the Karen Katz Lift-the-Flap books. I have many and have given many as gifts. They make a great gift! When they are babies they listen to the story but as they get older they love lifting the flap themselves!! You can't go wrong with any of the Karen Katz books.

My daughter loves "Where is Baby's Belly Button?" so I got this for her as a gift for Valentine's day. She is almost 2 and loves this book. Easy for her to flip through the pages and open all the flaps. She always laughs when I read it to her and she says "no" after asking the question in the book now. Very cute book. Definitely recommend!

My 16 month old loves where's baby... books. This one is very cute but most of the flaps are quite large... it's easier to lift (and not destroy) when the flaps are smaller.

I was a little skeptical of this book at first...my daughter wasn't super impressed by it ON Valentine's Day when I gave it to her. But every day since then she pulls this one off the shelf first and wants to read it. So far the flaps have held up well except the lamp flap which has a big crease in it but is otherwise still intact. The flaps are all very large. The only page with any bling on it is the last page where the heart is shiny and the bear is glittery...but my daughter enjoys every page so I don't think the lack of tactile stuff on other pages is an issue because there are flaps on every page for her to lift. Definitely recommend this book because my daughter loves it so much.

We love “Where is baby’s...” books. This is the second one we have purchased. Each pages features a flap you can open to see if baby’s valentine is hiding there. My 8 month old daughter and my 3 year old daughter both enjoy this book!

I am not a cook. But I do eat and have to feed my family. Yes there are recipes online but I like to have a book to leaf through, one with pictures to show how delicious the prepared dish looks. These seem to be tried and true recipes submitted by ordinary people who can cook. I've had the book a week now and have made three recipes. Each came out perfectly. They were easy with normal ingredients. No diet recipes here folks, just good comfort food.

You cannot beat Taste of Home recipes. I get their magazine and have purchased other cook books of theirs. Winning recipes every time. This book has TONS of casseroles that I am so excited to make. I have made several already, all have been delicious. This cook book has a wide variety of casserole recipes - something for everyone!

This is a great book for casseroles, every one has a great picture and a shared review of someone who has found the particular recipe perfect for their family or a church supper or just the crowd coming over after a football game. I especially like the fact the print is clear and easy to read. And the hints and suggestions for making, making it easier.

Okay, what I like about this book, when ya have those days when there's not a lot of time, your drained, and don't feel like cooking from scratch. You pull this book, out & use items, you already have in the pantry. I dont think most people want to come home from work, cook dinner from scratch, clean the house, take care of everything that needs to get done everyday. This is middle of the rode, you can get most dishes done, in an hour. Just provide a nice healthy salad on side.

Easy recipes for new cooks or seasoned cooks. Not sure what to prepare for dinner, Easy, just look up main ingredient and there will be several recipes. I have shared book with several and I have prepared several recipes and shared with neighbors. They love them all

Th8is is a fabulous collection of casseroles that I will use many , many times. There is something for every taste. The ingredients are all easy to find - most of the items are already in any kitchen.

About 12 years ago my dad and I built the wabnaki canoe using Mr Gilpatrick's book, and this year I built a Prospector design using Canoecraft, at least in part. I would like to add my opinion abut the relative merits of these books. Gilpatrick's book is designed, in my opinion, to tell you how to build what used to be referred to in the wood/canvas days as "guide canoes". These were workhorse canoes, without unnecessary decorations, a plain paint job and no frills. Mr Gilpatrick uses his own designs in guiding parties down whitewater rivers in Maine. His book describes how to use 2 layers of fiberglass to strengthen the bottom for whitewater, has complete instructions for caning very comfortable seats, has a good pattern for a portage-comfortable yoke, and has complete plans for all his designs, which only need to be enlarged. He does NOT spend time discussing stems (which are pretty but not necessary and add a lot of work to the construction), scuppered gunwales, accent strips, patterned decks, etc. It is impossible to build a cedar strip canoe which is not pretty, but function takes precedence in this book. His designs are practical and functional and he has proven that his construction methods produce a tough, durable boat. I think a canoe can sometimes be too pretty. If you're afraid to get it scratched up a bit you're not going to be taking it in places you should. Canoecraft goes into more detail about appearances and has a section on accent strips, shows finely crafted decks with coamings, and uses a construction utilizing stems. The canoe which is illustrated being constructed is the Redbird, and the canoe is absolutely beautiful. The book has very good trouble shooting sections in the chapters. The designs require either a knowledge of lofting or purchasing plans and there is not a lot of discussion on seat construction. A chapter on lofting and on caning seats would add immensely to this book. (Believe me, if you get used to caned seats you'll never have another kind). Also, the canoes are described as being built with a single layer of glass on the outside and inside. I know a fellow who banged such a canoe into a rock on the Madison river and his $3000 investment ended up needing major repair work. My double layered wabnaki has bounced off numerous rocks and ledges in the Big Blackfoot river and has its share of scratches but is structurally intact. I would definitely add a layer of glass if you do any whitewater stuff. You can certainly built a very beautiful canoe with the advice in this book, but I think the two books compliment one another and I used both in building the prospector.

I have never built a canoe before, but I am an experienced amatueur woodworker. I found this book perfect for my needs. Every now and again I had to scratch my head and figure out why, but mostly I this was a tremendous building experience. Don't expect the first one you build to be perfect, but it'll be close enough that you'll be proud and can't wait to get it in the watert. At least that was my experience. Well written, generally clear instructions, good information. Worth the price.

The problem is Willow Creek had this 2017 Wall Calendar still up for sale in December of 2017! I did not notice until I had marked it with birthdays and events and had it hanging on the wall...then realized it is a day off...then that it was last year's calendar. I was really speach less and a bit irritated. Why would this 2017 calendar still be up and for sale just days before 2018!? Who wants to purchase last year's wall calendar!? I was disappointed because the pictures were beautiful. I had to spend to buy their current 2018 calendar and chuck the 2017 in the trash - what a waste of money, how disappointing. That is not good for customer relations you took it on the chin but I still bought the 2018 Calendar from them.
