When I was about ten, my mother told me the story of the Paracutin volcano in Mexico, and the idea of it stuck in my mind ever after. Now here is a book that recounts her story as literature. It should capture the attention of all children who read it.

My grandson can't get enough of this story about a volcano that really exploded in Mexico.

As we were studying volcanoes in our homeschool we had already read about the "Hill of Fire" so I was delighted to find a children's book dedicated to this story and easy enough for our kids to read on their own as well as with us.Highly recommended for all family libraries.

WATCH FOR VOUCHER INCLUDED! This book said it was included though upon delivery I found it to not be included. In order to take the Servepro exam online, you MUST have the voucher. I returned the book easily & received a refund. I bought the book new at my college with the voucher & the book was very informative. Think of the book as the DMV handbook. There is only so much it can teach you. The rest you will learn with experience. This book was easy to read & contains somewhat bold print. The chapters are pretty short & contain answers to the end of chapter questions. I answered all the end of chapter questions & did the review my professor provided us with. I passed the Servepro management test with flying colors. Most of the questions I was asked from Servepro were things I learned via the book. Good book just be sure the book you order contains the voucher or purchase it from Servepro directly. Just be VERY SURE when ordering to verify the voucher you ordered is for the online test & is NOT the one you fill in the bubbles.

I purchased the book because at the last minute I needed the test sheet. When, in five years, I need to take the test again I will not purchase the book but use the online resources I found when I looked up "ServSafe." I paid for one of the online classes and three of the questions on the assessment were referenced from the online class I took. There are also very helpful apps. My only e commendation is to order the test sheet early so that you don't have to pay for the book to get it. Maybe soon the book will be on line or the school will sell the test sheets without the book!

ServSafe is an excellent book for educational purposes. It is well structured, very organized and to the point. The key terms, discussion topics and questions in the back of the chapter are helpful in preparing for the ServSafe exam. The extraneous info is minimized, except for Chapter 2. Chapter 2 covers pathogens (bacterias, toxins, fungi and parasites) in a fair amount of detail. The ServSafe exam did not ask many questions specifically on pathogens.

Used for 1st year CHEF class. This book is organized with pictures, lists, highlight boxes, preview and review sections, key points, a glossary and an index. Some sections seem a bit disorganized even though the author(s) claim it has been deliberately set up for student success. Mheh.

I decided to buy this book because it claimed it was new and the price was fair. IT WAS NOT A NEW ONE! It was obvious a used one, in a neat condition thou. This book should includes a code to take a test online. The code was missing so that means that i have to buy it separate. I have to pay $50.00 for just that code. Very disappointed! It is like paying for a brand new book from borders without the two weeks i had to wait to be delivered. I learn my lesson, I am not buying more books here.if you are planning to buy a new book, make sure it is NEW and includes everything you need. Nowadays books are coming with access to websites with more useful information and/or testing. I would say, save the hassle and buy one from a place you are sure are new. Unless you are just expecting the hard copy of the book.

This book is very easy to read. The chapters and information is clear and to the point. I recently took the servsafe exam and only missed 3 questions. I purchased my book new and it included the servsafe exam sheet. The school book store was selling the book for 90$ and most of my classmates bought it because they feared the exam sheet wouldn't be included but if you buy it new, the exam sheet is included and if you are a student you can sign up for prime at a discounted rate or free (with a free trial) and get it in two days.

Did not get the voucher that I paid for and the customer service wasn't much help, they offered me a 5 dollar gift card, like that really helps.

It's a rental which i'm happy about I don't need to keep the book anyways. It's clean, pages aren't sticky. Its in like new condition. I do the review questions by writing them out so I won't be needing to write in this at all and can't wait to send it back

So the CIA was doing things in Vietnam to prolong the conflict for as long as possible even if this meant getting American military personnel killed.Author and historian John M. Newman has shown how the CIA and American military intelligence were telling President Kennedy and Secretary Of Defense Robert McNamara all lies about the true state of affairs in Vietnam. But they were telling then Vice President Lyndon Johnson the truth about what a quagmire Vietnam had become and would most likely always be. So Johnson knew what was going to happen in Vietnam even before he became president.Fletcher Prouty and also James W. Douglass in his book JFK And The Unspeakable tell how the CIA had infiltrated every aspect of the power structures in Washington, DC. The CIA had their spies collecting information from all the government agencies and telling lies to everyone in the government also.I don't really see a lot in this massive book about the Pentagon Papers to make me doubt those conspiracy theories.The book says JFK continued America's involvement in Vietnam. But the fact remains that when JFK was alive and in office the number of American military personnel in Vietnam was around 16,000. And according to an official government document called NSAM 263 JFK had ordered that all American personnel should leave Vietnam in the near future.Then within a few days after JFK got killed Lyndon Johnson issued NSAM 273 which seems to be a vaguely worded document about the future policy and plans for Vietnam which could be interpreted in many different ways. It's creepy because people say Lyndon started working on the draft for NSAM 273 when President Kennedy was still alive.This book also confirms that there didn't seem to be any real military objectives in Vietnam. The stated objective was to just keep escalating the destruction against the enemy until they got discouraged.But as I said if the conspiracy theories are true the CIA knew all along that this would never happen.

Amazing to read this today, and to still see so many parallels to Iraq and Afghanistan...and possibly North Korea. So much learned, but some much that still remains hidden from the public about the behind the scenes about Vietnam.

This is one of the very best books I've read on the politics surrounding the reasoning behind the decisions made about the start of the Vietnam war. There is no doubt in my mind if JFK had lived, this war would never have taken place. JFK's second thoughts about the direction the war was taking, was one of the reasons Lyndon Johnson and certain organizations within and outside of our Gov't had him assassinated. This opinion coming from a Vietnam combat vet myself and a Vietnam war "hawk"at the time. We were all used by the "military industrial complex"-----just like Eisenhower warned the nation about just before he left office.

Valuable historical documents are available in this book for reviewing how the major events during the Vietnam war transpired. It is more beneficial when this book is read in conjunction with other Vietnam-war-era books for complete comprehensions.

Amazing and one of the best 'what if's' of history. Example of how things can go badly when Govts keep the governed in the dark about policies that harm so many lives. Reading about the meetings makes one wish to call out, wait do not do that, you are swallowing a fishhook.

"The Pentagon Papers" is at once sad, frightening in its detail, and astonishing as the reader witnesses the tragic, misguided decisions made by politicians and military leaders which ended up in the deaths of nearly 60,000 American men and women fighting a non-winnable war.

Having lived thru the war, it is amazing now to have a book with all the years of FUBAR.

Every now and then in my classes, a student(s) will really get 'into' the Vietnam War. I like to give a copy to those who will really value it. My original purchase came when it was first printed...and I won't give that one up. Since then I keep buying and giving.The lessons from this book are many. The Iran Contra Affair is another important 'read'.
